Austen

Made on high quality raw hides, tanned and lightly buffed to achieve a soft semi-aniline feel. A slight two-tone effect is achieved using a combination of pigments and dyes. Some marks and scars add to this leather's character. A versatile article equally at home in residential and hospitality settings.

A semi-aniline leather suited to residential and hospitality settings. Full specification and certification are available to download for project and contract use.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For general cleaning, wipe gently with a lightly dampened white cloth and allow to dry naturally. Semi-aniline leather retains more natural character than pigmented finishes, so extra care is advised. Treat spills immediately by blotting with absorbent paper — do not rub. Use only recommended leather cleaners and protectors specifically suited to semi-aniline leather; avoid multi-purpose or household cleaning products. Always test any product on a hidden area first. Keep away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent colour change or drying. Do not use solvents, heat guns or shrink wrapping. Colour and texture variations are natural characteristics. For domestic use, fully clean and re-protect every 6 months. For contract use, clean as often as necessary.

Tested to BS 5852 (Crib 5), BS EN 1021-1 and BS EN 1021-2, achieving a pass — suitable for severe-hazard contract and hospitality settings. Certification is available on request.

Hides in this range average 5 m² (approx. 54 sq ft). As a natural material, every hide varies slightly in size and shape, so allow for this when calculating quantities. See the hide diagram for typical dimensions and regions. Download the hide diagram.

Semi-aniline leather has a light surface finish that evens the colour while keeping much of the hide’s natural character. Expect some visible grain and subtle variation in tone.
